Seattle Storm WNBA Legends

The legends who built the Storm dynasty

Few WNBA franchises carry as much success as the Seattle Storm. Founded in 2000, the team has won four WNBA Championships — in 2004, 2010, 2018 and 2020 — making it one of the most decorated franchises in league history. Those title teams produced some of the most beloved players ever to wear green and yellow, and their legacy still defines what it means to play at Climate Pledge Arena in the shadow of the Space Needle.

The dynasty icons

Sue Bird

The greatest point guard in WNBA history, Sue Bird spent her entire career in Seattle and won four championships with the Storm (2004, 2010, 2018 and 2020). A 13-time All-Star, she was the steady floor general and emotional leader behind every Storm title, and her number 10 is retired in the rafters of Climate Pledge Arena.

Lauren Jackson

A three-time WNBA MVP and Hall of Famer, the Australian forward-center was the dominant force behind Seattle's first two titles in 2004 and 2010. A devastating scorer and rebounder, Jackson is widely regarded as one of the greatest players the women's game has ever seen.

Breanna Stewart

A two-time MVP and the centerpiece of the 2018 and 2020 championship teams, "Stewie" was the No. 1 overall pick in 2016 and quickly became one of the most versatile two-way forwards in the league, earning Finals MVP honors for her dominant title runs.

Modern Storm heroes

A franchise built on winning

What sets the Storm apart is consistency at the highest level. The 2004 title made Seattle the first WNBA team to win a championship led primarily by a backcourt-and-frontcourt duo of Bird and Jackson, while the 2010 team went a near-perfect 28-6 in the regular season before sweeping through the playoffs. The 2018 and 2020 squads, powered by Stewart and Loyd, proved the franchise could reload and stay on top a decade later.

From Bird's brilliance to Jackson's power to Stewart's versatility, Storm legends share one trait: they win championships. The team's green-and-yellow colors, a tribute to Seattle's beloved SuperSonics, fly proudly at Climate Pledge Arena every season. Want to see the next generation in person?
